Philip J. D’Angelo, Sr.

Philip J. D’Angelo, Sr. of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Born in Camden on September 1, 1939, he had resided in Maple Shade for the last 60 years. Philip served in the Army Reserves and the New Jersey National Guard. He retired from the Department of Defense, where he worked as an administrative specialist. Philip was an avid bowler, enjoying the sport until the Covid Pandemic. Philip enjoyed coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Maple Shade and to this day would still talk about those days.  

Phil was a lifelong Philly sports fan.  You could always find him watching the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, as well as Penn State Football and Villanova Basketball with rescued feline friend Mandy in his lap who will miss him very much.   He was the go-to-dad for figuring out what's wrong with your car, home repairs, how to nap anywhere anytime, and always there to lend an ear and offer up advice.  He especially loved Sunday dinners with his kids, grandkids, and his in-laws Joe & Lynn.  These were the most special times for everyone.  

 

Beloved husband of the love of his life, the late Margaret D’Angelo who passed away in 2011, loving father of Sandra (the late James Bower), Joseph D’Angelo, Philip, Jr. (Melissa) D’Angelo, and Debra (Joseph) Fuhs, cherished grandfather of Philip III, Marissa, Paige, Joey, Ryan, Brendan and Pauline, dear great grandfather of Kali and Trinity, brother of Mary Lou Ervin, and predeceased by his brother Robert and sister Theresa and will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Thursday, September 29th 10 am - 11:30 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Funeral service will follow 11:30 am at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
