Walter E. Meany

Walter E. Meany of Maple Shade formerly of Toms River and Pennsauken passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 87. He was born on January 17, 1937 in Mt. Ephraim, NJ to the late Francis and Sarah Meany. Walt proudly served his country in the US Army, while living in Pennsauken he worked as a carpenter building homes, upon moving to Toms River he was the maintenance supervisor for a large bank system, and retired from the Maple Shade School District where he had worked in the maintenance department. He was a member of the Harmony-Sunrise Lodge #18 in Toms River. Walt enjoyed summers on the beach in Cape May, where he found many lost items with his metal detector. He also took great pleasure in collecting shells, surf fishing, camping, and playing Petanque.

Beloved husband of 64 years to Dorothy "Dot" Meany (nee Seidelmann), loving father of Dorothy Lynn Withers and Mark Walter Meany, cherished grandfather of Meghan Lynn Josey, Dr. Colleen Noelle (Mark) Graham and Autumn Leigh Withers, adoring great grandfather of Kaiden, Carson, Eden, Holden, and Tailonie.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with his family on Tuesday December 17th 6:30 - 7:00 PM at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Walt's funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private.
