Thomas G. Long, III of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 8, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of Willingboro before moving to Maple Shade many years ago. He was a graduate of Drexel University. Tom had a long career as chief electrical engineer for the Harry F. Ortlip Co. in Philadelphia where he was part owner. He proudly served his country in the US Army. Tom was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, and served many years on the school board there. He was a former member of the OLPH Knights of Columbus. Tom enjoyed reading, but his favorite pastime was watching and rooting for his grandsons at their sporting events.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret Long, loving father of Margaret (the late Kevin) Brislin, Jennifer (Joe) Voisine, and the late Thomas Long, proud grandfather of Thomas, Jr., Kyle, Colin, Nicholas and Austin, father-in-law of Diane Long, dear brother of Robert Long, Peggy Lebo and Alice (Roy) Snare, and special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Sunday, May 16th 4-6 pm at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. His mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 17th 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade. Interment will be in Beverly National Cemetery. Social distancing and facial masks are required at the funeral home and church please.
