Richard E. “Pete” Haynes, Jr. age 80 of Maple Shade passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Pete was born on May 3, 1942 in Pennsauken and was a resident of Maple Shade for 61 years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier, after retirement he worked as a school bus driver for the Maple Shade School District. Pete was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and a former member of the Jaycees. His love for Philadelphia Sports, working in his yard and for his dog Lucy was never ending. Pete shared a wonderful sense of humor with all who knew him, and always looked forward to spending time with his loving family.
Beloved husband for 61 years to Sandy Haynes (nee Garofalo), loving father of Michelle (Tom) Darmo, Kelly Haynes (John Kenney), and Richard Haynes (Toni Porreca), dear brother of Ann Marie (Emory) Slezak and Fran Marshall, cherished grandfather of Ashlyn, Nicholas, Max, Shaylee, Richard, TJ (Christine) and Joey, adoring great grandfather of Mila, son of the late Richard and Katherine Haynes, brother of the late Patricia Griffes and Peggy Fanelli, and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with his family on Wednesday June 1st 10-11 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Memorial donations in Pete’s name may be made to Autism Speaks @autismspeaks.org
