Raymond W. "Rick" Ventura, Jr., of Maple Shade passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Born in Mt. Holly, he was a lifetime resident of Maple Shade. Rick retired from the Courier Post after 46 years as a statistician, and served with the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders. He also worked as a scorekeeper for the Philadelphia Phillies. Rick was a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Writers Association, Past President of the Tri-County Baseball League, and was inducted in the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame and the South Jersey Wrestling Hall of Fame. Son of the late Raymond Ventura, Sr., he is survived by his beloved mother Margaret "Marge" Ventura (nee Langguth), his loving sisters Gerry (Bob) Squires and Carol (Rich "Rico") Stephan, his dear niece Kimberly Osmond and nephew Rob Squires, Jr., also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing and visitation with his family on Tuesday evening, October 3rd, 7-9 pm and Wednesday morning, October 4th 10-11 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4th at 11 am. Interment will be in Locustwood Memorial Park.
