Beyond his military career, Peter became a respected professional in Loss Prevention, known for his work as a Regional Director within Macy's Supply Chain Asset Protection and for building the transportation security program at Home Depot. His expertise and integrity left a lasting impact on the industry.
A devoted husband for 40 years to Mabel Melas (nee Ortiz), loving father to Emanuel (Lorraine) Melas, Krystalo (Michael) Iuliano, and Peter (Cinthia) Melas, and cherished grandfather to Adrian, Ava, Michael Jr., and soon-to-be-grandchild. Peter embraced servant leadership, always putting others first. His infectious laugh, jokes, life lessons, and passion for family were admired by all who knew him. Captain Melas' legacy extends far beyond his professional achievements. He led with compassion and a deep belief that people always came first, reminding us all of the power of selfless leadership.
