Matthew W. Barrett of Delran passed away on April 22, 2024. He was 41 years old. Born in Philadelphia on December 7, 1982 to Maria (nee Panzera) and the late George F. Barrett. He had resided in Cinnaminson and Maple Shade before moving to Delran one year ago. Matt worked as a Registered Nurse at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia, and was a  strong advocate for the nursing profession. He was very proud to have been an emergency room nurse. Matt graduated from Rowan College at Burlington County with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Northeastern Hospital School of Nursing with an Associates Degree in Nursing, and Walden University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
 
Beloved husband of 15 years to Catherine "Cat" Barrett (nee Rakoski), cherished father of Layla age 8 and Declan age 5, loving son of Maria and the late George Barrett, dear brother of Brandon (Mandi) Barrett and Slade (Steph) Barrett, adoring uncle of Starling, Lincoln, Wade and Tallulah, loving nephew of Phyllis Howell, Joanna Smyth, and Jim and Dolores Quartarone, dear cousin of Jessica Schreader, Larry Smyth and families, Tommy Nelson and family.
 
In death Matt was able to help many others as an organ donor with the Sharing Network. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, please check back for further details. In honor of Matt, the family is requesting that those who wish may plant a tree in his memory. Memorial contributions may be made to go fund me to support Cat, Layla and Declan by Rachel Gray @gofundme.com
