Marguerite T. Phillips (nee Kmecik), age 70, of Cinnaminson, NJ, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed peacefully on September 24, 2024.
Marguerite was born to the late Marguerite and Stephen Kmecik and grew up in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia. She was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business. Marguerite spent her entire career working for Rohm and Haas Chemical, advancing from an entry level clerk through various roles to Senior Purchasing Agent. She retired from the company after 37+ years of service.
Marguerite had a deep love for animals and devoted much of her free time to various animal rescue organizations, including her volunteer work with the Almost Home Shelter in Pennsauken, NJ. Together with her companion Paul Dittmar, they adopted many dogs, bunnies and birds together, giving them great care and a lot of love. She especially loved Beagles and adopted several of her dogs through rescues that saved them from laboratory testing facilities.
Marguerite was predeceased by her parents, Stephen and Marguerite Kmecik, and by multiple beloved pets. She is survived by her loving and devoted companion of over 30 years, Paul Dittmar, and her beloved dog, Rollie, and Tweety, their bird. Also surviving is Paul’s daughter, Kristin Murphy, and Marguerite's very close friends, Deborah, Sue, Leoni and Rob, among others.
Friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mark C. Tilghman Funeral Home, 35 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade, NJ 08052. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home, after which her Entombment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, to continue to support her passion for all animals, donations to an animal rescue organization or animal shelter of the donor’s choice would be preferred. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting www.marktilghmanfuneralhome.com
