Katherine E. Downes

Katherine E. Downes (nee McClure) of Maple Shade passed away peacefully at Samaritan Hospice, Mt. Holly, NJ, on Tuesday April 16, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was 71 years old. Katherine was born on November 4, 1952 in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Harrison and Patricia McClure. She was a retired psychiatric nurse having worked for over 25 years at Buttonwood Hospital, New Lisbon and Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro. Katherine was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She enjoyed playing bingo,  canasta, and sailing on various cruises. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
 
Beloved wife of the late Michael J. Downes, loving mother of Stacy (Derrick) Privott and Scott Wasson, dear Mom of Colin Wasson and Harley (Christopher) Chesnut, cherished grandmother of Kyle Wasson, Anastacia Clark and Kaleb Clark, adoring great grandmother of Emrys Wasson, devoted sister of Michael (Debbie) McClure, Patrick (Kim) McClure, Edward (Jackie) McClure, Terri (Harry) Doberich and the late Cynthia Baird, Katherine is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family on Monday April 22nd, 10 - 11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson.
