Joseph Harry Arensberg 85 of Maple Shade left us peacefully on January 20th surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a kind and loving husband to the love of his life Patricia (nee Flemming) for 66 years.
Born to the late Alfred and Florence nee (Marlowe) of Camden and survived by his sister Bonnie Schillinger and brother Allen. He was preceded in passing by his brother Richard.
Joe graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden in 1954. Shortly afterwards he joined the US Marine Corp Reserves and worked as a machinists helper at Langstons in Camden for the next 5 years.
In 1961 Joseph became a fire fighter for the City of Camden, Engine Company 11 and proudly served as a Captain until his retirement in 1988.
Joe will be remembered as an amazing father, grandfather ("Pop") and great grandfather.
He leaves behind his children Joseph & Karen (nee Cebular), Diane, Steve & Donna (nee Marley), Patti and the late Douglas (1996); Grandchildren Lauren, Kristina & Jeff Morro, Steven, Michael & Alyssa (nee Tobin), Christopher & Erika (nee LaRosa), Joshua & Amanda (nee Haggerty) and the late Daniel (2020) and Brooks (2021); great grandchildren; Audrey, Danny, Jackson, Landon, Gabriella, Luke, Nash and Oliver.
Joseph was loved and deeply admired by so many for his honesty, strength, compassion and devotion. His humor, sarcasm and storytelling was unmatched. Our family is truly blessed to have had him in our lives.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at Mark C. Tilghman Funeral Home 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 6:00 - 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to Samaritan Hospice or a charity of your choice in honor of Joseph Harry Arensberg.
