John “Jack” W. Gillespy, Jr.

John W. “Jack” Gillespy, Jr. Age 80 of Maple Shade passed away on Friday June 5, 2020. Jack was born in Albany, N.Y. and resided in Maple Shade for over 70 years. He served in the US Army and retired from the State of NJ Employment Services. Jack attended Ranger School in the State of New York, and was a very active member of the Maple Shade Democratic Club. He enjoyed frequenting the Wawa on North Forklanding where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Mayor”.

Beloved husband of Constance “Connie” Gillespy (nee Hassall), loving father of John A. Gillespy, dear brother of Sara “Sally” Gillespy, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jack was the son of the late John, Sr. and Agnes Gillespy, and brother of the late Jean Berkey.

A memorial service in celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date, after the Covid restriction is lifted. Please check back for a date and time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jack’s name may be made to the National Wildlife Service @www.nwf.org
