Joann "Jo" Marie Casassa

Joann Marie Casassa (nee Bishop) affectionately known as "Jo" passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 21, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home. Born in Darby, Pennsylvania, on May 5,1948 to the late Thomas and Louise Bishop, she was a resident of Maple Shade since 1969. Joann had a nurturing spirit to those she dearly loved providing comfort and solace asking for little in return. Her door was always open to all, and she could be found much of the time in her kitchen where she loved to cook and feed everyone. When not cooking for everyone she enjoyed sitting on her front porch. 

She married the love of her life, Richard "Rick" Casassa who passed away in 2018. Joann's memory will be forever cherished and kept alive by her loving daughters Dawn (Tad) Greenwood and Jennifer (Mark) Mazza, cherished grandchildren Zachary, Austin, Emily, Ethan, Ava, Zachery, Abigail and Gabrielle and a much anticipated soon to be first great grandson, dear sister of the late Lorraine (the late Tom) Rakus, sister-in-law of Carol Casassa (Tom Reilly), Peter (Lisa) Casassa, Sandy (the late Richard) Brewer, and Penny Casassa (Rick Fedoriw), Joann will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 Joann will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with her family on Friday August 30th 9-11 AM at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. A service to honor, celebrate and remember Joann will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home.
