On Thursday, September 9th, after 89 years on this earth, the Lord called James (Jim) Fidler into his eternal care. James passed away peacefully and joined his beloved wife, Marie D. Potts Fidler (nee Sulimay). Though his body was frail and tired, his spirit was full of grateful appreciation to be able to draw another determined breath every second he was graced on this earth.
His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were lucky enough to know him. Though he will truly be missed, there is so much to be remembered. Such as Christmas Eve dinner and parties in the basement.
What he will be most remembered for is the absolute love he had for his grandchildren. It brought him so much joy to be able to go fishing or to just simply BE and enjoy the company of whichever grandkid(s) he had in front of him in that moment. You could always count on Pop to make sure you had a meatball sub, or a hot roast beef sandwich. If you were sick, he would make the time to just sit with you while you watched your favorite tv show. In the last few years of his life, despite having lost majority of his vision, there was no stopping him from engaging when it came to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The connections he made with us, our children, and our children’s children were undeniable.
James Fidler was the father/step-father to Jimmy Fidler (Tish), Kenneth Fidler (Liz), Joseph Fidler (Cathy), the late Lori Kahlbom (Don), Dan (Terri) Potts, Rob (Debbie) Potts, grandfather to Jamie Mlotkiewicz, Kacie Fidler, Jason O’Brien, Dan Potts, Dana Kahlbom, Ryan Potts, Meredith Potts, Chelsea Light, Matthew Potts, and great grandfather to 10 beautiful great grandchildren. All of whom will forever adore and remember you; we will stand taller and stronger, knowing you are now watching over us.
