Jack O. Hohwald

Jack O. Hohwald of Maple Shade passed away in a tragic accident on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born in Merchantville on September 28, 1939 and was a lifetime area resident. Jack proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1961-1968. He joined the Maple Shade Police Department in 1968 where he worked as a police officer until 1995. Jack also worked as a school bus driver for the Maple Shade School District for the last 23 years. He was past Commander of the American Legion Post #66, a longtime member of Maple Shade P.B.A.#267, and a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Maple Shade. Jack was known for his patriotism and his love for the American flag and his country. Jack and his wife Pat enjoyed many beautiful cruises during their 64 years of marriage.

Beloved husband of Patricia Hohwald (nee Wert), loving father of Robert (Eileen) Hohwald and Diane Gumpper, cherished grandfather of Jaclyn (Corey) Ottmuller, Kyle Hohwald, Eric Gumpper and Christopher Gumpper.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with his family on Sunday February 2nd, 5-8 PM and Monday February 3rd,10-11AM at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. His funeral service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
