Gertrude A. Lavender

Anne Gertrude Lavender (nee Schroeck) age 98 of Maple Shade passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family on Saturday, January 23rd “Gert” was born in Philadelphia on September 11, 1922. She was a long time resident of Maple Shade raising 6 children with loving husband and soulmate the late William G. Lavender Sr. She served for many years on the PTA of Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and was a lifelong wholehearted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

 

 Beloved mother to 6 children: the late William Jr. and wife Theresa (Vento), Thomas and wife Renee (Nessen), Richard and wife Janis (Horner), Chris and wife Kathleen (Kressler), Teresa Klaw and husband Wayne, Susan Marshall and husband Paul. Fun-loving “Nan” to 15 grandchildren: Kim, Jill, Brian, Danielle, Kristin, Jeffrey, Kyra, Casey, Curtis, Elise, Autumn, Sean, Ryan, Evan, and Riley. And ‘mighty matriarch’ to 15 great-grandchildren and counting. 

 

Nan was known as both “Prayer Warrior” and card shark. If she wasn’t found with rosary beads in hand, she was laughing over a game of cards sharing her sass, humor, recipes, and enjoyment of life with family and friends. She touched many lives with her gentle strength and everyday awesomeness. She will be dearly missed and forever celebrated.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 26, 2021, 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ 08052.
