George W. Peto, Jr. of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on May 1, 2019, after a six month battle with cancer. Born on February 29, 1948 in Hempstead, N.Y., he resided in Levittown, Pa. before moving to Maple Shade 20 years ago. George proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by P S E & G, gas division in Burlington, N.J. for over 40 years. George enjoyed playing baseball and football, and he was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He liked to fish, take trips to the casino and had a fondness for Entenmann's cakes. More than anything else, was his love for his family. Beloved husband of Suzanne Peto (nee Bagnell), loving father of George W. III (Ashley) Peto, Mary (Brock) Peto, and Valerie Peto, caring brother of Thomas (Rose) Peto, and James (Carole) Peto, dear grandfather of Jadyn, Avery and Braidyn, he was also a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Wednesday, May 8th from 11 am to 1 pm at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. His funeral service will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in the N.J. Veterans Cemetery.
