Elizabeth A. Hass, of Maple Shade passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024. She was 86. Born on January 21, 1937, Elizabeth's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her loved ones and her compassionate spirit. Her journey through life was a testament to her loving nature and selfless disposition.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband, Herman A. Hass III, her cherished daughter, Melissa Marie Hass, and her daughter-in-law, Sheila Jean Hass. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: H. Albert Hass IV, Gerrie Williams and her husband Albert, and Francie Toole. Betty was a proud grandmother to Gary, Justin, Brianna, Stefani, Katie, Bethany, Brian and she adored her great-grandchildren Brooke, Shayna, Liam, Hailey, and Baby Christopher. Her life was also enriched by her close relationship with her siblings, Robert, Mike, Dean, Peter; her son-in-law Brian, and she fondly remembered her late brothers, Joseph and Charles Gallagher, as well as her sister, Cora DiSimone.
Betty's professional life was characterized by her enduring commitment to the well-being of others. She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden after over 32 years, where she provided comfort and care to countless patients. After many years working in the Med-Surg Unit, she found her true calling and transferred to Pediatrics. Her passion for nursing continued as she worked as a Private Duty Nurse, extending her expertise and kindness into the homes of those in need, well into her 80s. Later in life, she continued to make a difference in her community as a Wellness Liaison at Chestnut Station Apartments in Merchantville, where she was a beloved figure known for her kindness and helpful nature.
Betty was a passionate reader who could be often found at yards sales and out thrifting. Family was the cornerstone of Betty's world. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her presence at family gatherings was a source of warmth and happiness, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am, Friday, January 19th at St. Peter RC Church, 43 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org)
