Edward J. Godfrey, Jr.

Edward J. Godfrey, Jr. affectionately known as "Nature Boy" of Maple Shade passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was 72 years of age. Ed was born on September 25, 1952 in Philadelphia to the late Edward J., Sr. and Josephine Godfrey and was a lifetime resident of Maple Shade. He was a retired teacher, having taught for many years at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorestown, Holy Cross High School in Delran and and Paul VI High School in Haddonfield. Ed was a lifelong, devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Maple Shade. Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed the beach, boating, fishing, flying kites and trips to the casinos. Ed also took pleasure in working on crossword puzzles, singing and collecting various gemstones and jewelry.

Beloved son of the late Edward, Sr. and Josephine Godfrey, loving brother of Josephine Godfrey, Nancy (Angelo) DeAngelis and James (Kathy) Godfrey, cherished uncle of Daniel (Gina) Godfrey, Eileen (Steve) Rockhill, Katie (Andy) Santacroce, Matthew Godfrey, Emily (Dave) Nederostek, Zachary (Morgan) DeAngelis, Benjamin DeAngelis and Sara DeAngelis, proud great uncle of Graham, Declan, Nora, Grace, Beau, Hailey, Abby, Oliver and Noah.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and visitation with his family on Monday evening, December 9th 6-8 PM at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday December 10th 11 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
