Edward J. Barney, Jr.

Edward J. Barney Jr., age 86, of Woodstown, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024. Born in Philadelphia on May 10, 1937, he grew up in Maple Shade and attended Moorestown High School, where he was a member of the swim team. Through the years, Ed lived in Woolwich Township and Pennsauken, before settling into retirement in his meticulously self-renovated home in Woodstown.  Ed was proudly self-employed, owning his own construction company for several years. He was a jack-of-all-trades, helping his children with their home projects well into his eighties. He enjoyed sailing, trips to the beach, researching his family’s genealogy, fishing, and attending air shows. 

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Edward Barney Sr.; sister, Margaret Binowski; son, Timothy Barney;  brothers-in-law, Joe Patton and Jerry Renteria; and his grandson, John Bafford III. Left to cherish his memory are eight children: Susan Bafford (John), Edward J. Barney III (Bette Jayne), Randy Barney (Gerri), Jeffery Barney (Dr. Grace Fiorentino), Barbara Johnson, Joanne Malanik (Robert), Ryan Barney (Rachel), and Matthew Barney (Nicole).  He was an adoring grandfather of sixteen and great-grandfather of two, by whom he will be greatly missed. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Patton and Betty Renteria,  his brother, Richard Barney and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
