David B. Tapp, Sr.

David B. Tapp Sr., 65 of Merchantville, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019.  He is survived by loving wife Susie, stepdaughter Melissa Phillips, son David Jr. (Tara), daughters Traci Kevil (Brian) and Jamie Tapp, and sister Patricia Cleavenger (Tom).  He was the proud Pop-Pop of five grandchildren - Brianna, Dylan, Gianna, Alexa, and Michael. Dave was one of the hardest working people you could ever meet and was proud of his profession as an elevator constructor.  In fact, he would often introduce himself to people as “Elevator Dave”.  He was a member of the IUEC Local 5 Elevator Constructors union since 1972.  In the rare occasion he wasn’t at work, he enjoyed going down the shore, crabbing, watching his grandkids’ sporting events, and going to car shows with a 1972 Camaro that he and his wife fixed up.  You would often find Dave with a can of Budweiser nearby fixing something or yelling at the television during the Eagles games. Stubborn to the end, Dave insisted on having no memorial service.  Instead, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation in his memory to The Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (www.eesf.org)
