Alfred V. Nowakowski

Alfred V. Nowakowski, age 90, passed away on December 24, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Maple Shade for over 70 years serving on the Town Council. Alfred proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1945-1948. The Reading Railroad and Conrail was where he worked for over 45 years. Al was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church of Maple Shade, 4th Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight and District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus Council # 5714.   Beloved husband of Elizabeth "Bette" Nowakowski (nee Taggart), loving father of Patrick (the late Janet) Nowakowski, Timothy (Alana) Nowakowski and Diane Tantum-Gennaro, cherished grandfather of Amanda, Ashley, Daniel, Gregory, Casey and Matthew, also survived by many nieces and nephews, brother of the late Helen Acker, and the late Joseph and Bernard Nowakowski.   Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Thursday, December 28th, 7-9 pm and Friday 9:30-10:30 am, at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 29th, 11 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to OLPH Church at the above address, or the Alzheimer's Association at ALZ.org.
