Jeannine A. Gender (nee Costic) of Effort, Pa., formerly of Maple Shade passed away on May 2, 2017. She was 80. Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she then moved to Maple Shade where she resided for many years. Jeanine was the former mayor of Maple Shade and very active in politics in the town. She was president of the Road Association in Sun Valley, Pa. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Beloved wife of James T. Gender, loving mother of James T. Jr., Jeannine (Dan) Hagan, Mary Jean (Bob) Kneringer, and William Gender, beloved mother of the late Cherie Petrino, devoted sister of Nancy (Duke) Warner, Jeannie Lang, Joanne Else, William (Joyce) Costic and Jessieann Gable, dear grandmother of Morgan (Matt) Siepel, Victoria Gender, Teionna Hagan, Meghan Kneringer, Jazmine Kneringer, and Brianna Gender, cherished great grandmother of Keaton Parker Siepel, and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and visitation with her family on Monday evening, May 8th, 6-8 pm, and also Tuesday morning, 8:30-9:30 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, May 9th, 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade.
