A. Neal Turner

Aubrey "Neal" Turner, age 86, passed away on March 24, 2017 at Samaritan Hospice Mt. Holly. Neal was born and raised in Danville, Va until joining the Army where he was stationed in Fort Dix. He met the love of his life, Shirley DeCou at the Trenton State Fair. They married and resided in "Bridgeboro" for many years where Neal worked for his father-in-law at DeCou's Auto Body. He was an active member of the Delran Fire Company #1, holding the position of Fire Chief for several years. He coached baseball and softball for Delran A.A. He was a member of Delran VFW, Delran Moose Lodge, and Firemen's Exempt Association. He loved the outdoor life, especially farming, fishing and hunting which is why he and Shirley returned to his hometown in 1978 enjoying the "mountain life" together. After the loss of his wife, he moved back to NJ to be closer to his family and "forever" friends. Neal is predeceased by his wife, Shirley and Granddaughter, Stephanie Furrer. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gail (Jim) Furrer of Palmyra, his Granddaughter, Erika (Andrew) Johnson of Riverton, Great- Granddaughter, Alyssa Johnson, his niece ("other daughter"), Butsie Snyder, and many friends he made along the way, especially those at Zurbrugg Mansion in Delanco. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family at Arneytown Veterans Cemetery. Neal and Shirley will be interred together. Memorial donations may be made to the Stephanie B. Furrer Foundation P.O. Box 2523 Cinnaminson, NJ 08077, a NJ non-profit 501(c)3 organization helping to financially assist people with developmental disabilities attend summer camp.
