Margaret A. Smith

Margaret A. Smith (nee Mellon) of Maple Shade passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 26, 2017. She was born on June 16, 1937 in Philadelphia, and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Mellon. Beloved wife of fifty-nine years to Donald Smith, and sister to Mary Beadling of Audubon, Kathleen (Hal) Ryman of Stephenson, VA, and the late Bernadette Molloy of Oceanside, CA. Mother of Mark (Mary) Smith of Franklinville, and Christine Smith and Paul Smith of Maple Shade. Grandmother to Ian (Corinne), Erin and Sara. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the nursing homes, sick, and homebound and also acted as a bereavement counselor. She was a school secretary at Steinhauer Elementary School for twenty-five years. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family and summers at Long Beach Island. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, March 2, 7-9 pm at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Road, Maple Shade. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Blackwood.
