Robert R. Ries age 87 of Maple Shade, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on February 25, 2017. Born in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Maple Shade. Bob was a veteran of the US Navy, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict and was retired owner and partner of Van Air Hydraulics in Maple Shade. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Maple Shade Rotary Club, Advisory Board of Commerce, Maple Shade Sportman's Club, Maple Shade-Moorestown Lodge #281 F & A.M., Maple Shade Business Association and the National Antique Car Club. Bob designed and built the towns centerpiece brass clock, donated by Bob and his wife Judy, and placed in the Gazebo Park at the corner of N. Forklanding Rd. and Main St. Bob was an extremely humble person, who could repair, restore and rebuild anything. Always willing to lend a hand, and willing to help anyone, he will be missed by so many. Beloved husband of Judy Ries (nee Bell), loving and devoted father of Barbara (Steve) Fox, and Wendy (Chas) Whalen, cherished grandfather of Jeff (Anne), Chris (Rachel) and Chas (Kaity), beloved great grandfather of Ries, Laurelei, Tabitha and Connor, dear brother of June Siebke, and George (Jane) Ries, brother-in-law of Mae Van Fossen, brother of the late Charlotte Van Fossen, brother-in-law of the late William Van Fossen and Jack Siebke. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with his family on Wednesday evening, March 1st, 6-9 pm at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 2nd, 11 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 S. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade.
