Roger A Barbour Esq., 51, of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away September 1 at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital surrounded by family after suffering a heart attack Saturday at his home. Roger is survived by his wife Lora and his daughters Genny, 17, and Marlee, 13. Roger, a family advocate, will be remembered by his laugh, his smile, and for being best friends with everybody he knew. Roger successfully lobbied to change NJ law to allow minors prescribed medical marijuana by their physician the right to take their medicine as an edible dose in NJ schools. His passion for this cause was personal, as his older daughter Genny, the Purple Ribbon Warrior, suffers from severe epilepsy and autism. His death precedes his completion of lobbying for a new bill introduced June 2 that expands the law to allow a designated caregiver, instead of parent/guardian, to administer the prescription on school grounds. Roger carried burdens for so many around him while also carrying more than his own share of pain and sickness. Even in his pain, Roger was always positive and cheerful. Roger was a lifelong Maple Shade resident and was a member of the Rotary Club. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 3rd, 11 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade. A visitation with the family will take place on Saturday morning 9:15-11 am at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genny the Purple Warrior C/O Columbia Bank, 253 E. Main St., Maple Shade, NJ 08052.Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting marktilghmanfuneralhome.com
