Kenneth Charles McClure, 65, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, December 24, 2015. Born in New Brunswick, NJ on January 22, 1950, he spent a great deal of time at his grandparent’s Middlebush, NJ farm, and it was there that he first discovered a passion for big equipment at the wheel of a combine at only five years old. Moving to South Jersey several years later, that little boy’s love grew into a lifelong passion for heavy equipment that became McClure Excavating, Inc. His family came to see his exceptionally hardworking nature as coming from not only a love for his work, but more for his love of the people who benefitted from his efforts. Ken is survived by his bride and best friend Donna (nee Westergard) McClure of 40 years. They spent their years together setting quite an example of how to love and support each other well in both life’s challenges and joys. Ken is preceded in death by their precious daughter, Meredith McClure. While we grieve our patriarch, we are thankful he is with her once again. Alongside his wife, he is survived by his parents, Harvey and Irene (nee Marchison) McClure of Cinnaminson, NJ; brother Gregory McClure of Venice, CA; daughter Melissa Lewis (Matthew) of Virginia Beach, VA; son Kenneth J. McClure (Lindsay) of Medford, NJ; and daughter Katy McClure of Philadelphia, PA. While Ken enjoyed days with his wife on the water in their boat and connecting with friends over a meal, it was his six grandchildren that gave him the greatest joy. His little ones are Tommy Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Andrew Lewis, Cayla McClure, Savannah McClure, and Levi McClure. His finals days were spent with family and friends nearby. While the void of him in our lives is immense, we have not lost him because we know just where he is, whole and healed with God in Heaven, and we hold on to the hope of seeing him again. Friends and family are invited for visitation on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 4 to 6pm at Fellowship Alliance Chapel, 199 Church Road, Medford NJ. A service will follow at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey. http://www.ronaldhouse-snj.org/donations.php. Ronald McDonald House of So.
