Charles L. Bortner of Maple Shade passed away on Thursday September 10, 2015. Born in Harrisburg, Pa and a lifetime area resident, he was 89 years old. Charles was a US Army Veteran proudly serving his country during World War II. He retired as supervisor for Cherry Hill Township Public Works. Mr. Bortner was a member of the Maple Shade-Moorestown Lodge #281 F&AM, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon and the Scottish Rite Consistory. He was known as "Pop" to everyone, and also enjoyed watching wrestling and spending time with his grandchildren. Beloved husband of the late Dora, dear father of the late John "Pete" Bortner, loving father of Charlene (Ronald) Ottaviano, devoted brother of Rhaull (Judith) Bortner, cherished grandfather of Charles "Fritz" Pascale III, Brian Ottaviano, David (Nicole) Ottaviano and Madelyn Bortner, daughter-in-law Patricia Bortner, also many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and visitation with his family on Thursday September 17th 9:30-11:30 am at the MARK C. TILGHMAN FUNERAL HOME, 38 N. Forklanding Rd., Maple Shade. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 am. Interment will be in NJ Veterans Cemetery.
